Today has been a good day. I'm wearing green. I'm wearing new clothes I got at the mall last night. I'm having a good hair day. I finished my paper 2 hours early. I made green cookies. I got to spend time with Jed this afternoon. AND Biggest Loser is on tonight!!! :D
I also got to go back to my old office and have lunch with my old coworkers. It was so good to see all of them and I really, really miss them!! More than missing my job, I miss my coworkers. They are great people and really made me feel at home.

Monday Memoirs
Friday - We went to the BYU vs. Utah baseball game with Seth & Megan, Justin & Amanda, and Adam & Amanda. It was freezing! But we did get free hot dogs and soda (yeah, cold soda...). I'm glad we got there when we did because people were standing in the aisles - I guess they oversold the game. Utah got 7 runs in the first inning, then BYU came back towards the end and barely lost (13-15).
Saturday - We went to the Draper Temple open house in the morning. It was a little crowded, but really pretty! ;) I can't wait until we can go back!

After the open house, we went to lunch at a new place in West Jordan called Grille from Impanema. The concept is like Tucanos, but it was not nearly as good and there wasn't much variety either. Oh, and there was one other couple in the entire restaurant, which made it kind of awkward. Especially after they left and we were there alone. We will not be going back...
We drove up to Gateway to the Clark Planetarium to catch a movie, Under the Sea in 3D. It was pretty good, if you don't get sick from 3D stuff... It kinda hurt my eyes a little bit. Jim Carrey narrated, which was neat. We did some shopping after the movie and then we had to head home because I was feeling really sick.
Sunday - I didn't go to church because I was tired from being sick all night (and I was still feeling really crappy). I slept most of the day, and spent the rest in the bathroom... :( When Jed got home from church, I moved from the bed to the couch, sipped some Sprite, and started feeling a little better - it might have something to do with the fact that I watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang too. Who knows? I also sewed up a hole in one of our blankets. (And I'm still working on our T-shirt quillow)
That's about all. I still haven't heard back about that job. Maybe I should start looking in other places and not putting all of my eggs in one basket?? Please, if you remember, keep me and my job-hunting in your prayers. I would aprreciate it. :D

Friday Foto Fix
This is the really yummy Italian ice place we went to a little bit ago.
This is Jed, trying to grow a mustache for an upcoming "mustache party"...
This is what Jed did after I came home and told him I lost my job - put on my hard hat and started looking for another job for me online.
The orchestra Megan performed with.
Me this morning (just woke up, can you tell?)
...and me this afternoon. I'm still not sure if I like it yet. :\ (Jed didn't even notice - 4 inches gone!!)
This little girl had some really staticy hair at the baseball we went to tonight.

Thankful Thursday
I am SO thankful that I had a job interview this morning!!
I am thankful that I had some crushed mint in the house because we are out of gum. ;)
I am thankful that I got along well with the guy who interviewed me.
I am thankful that this job is right up my alley and would be a good fit for me.
I am thankful that I feel qualified for the job.
I am thankful that my friend, Amanda, works at the same place.
I am thankful that the commute wouldn't be too bad - it's pretty close.
I am thankful that I have a good feeling about this job. :)
I am thankful that we got our state tax return back this week.
I am thankful that I got to talk to my mom today.
I am thankful that I got to talk to Katy today.
I am thankful that I'm not pregnant.
I am thankful that Jed pretty much decided to go to graduate school.
I am thankful that I will probably have more time to finish my degree now - what a burden lifted off my shoulders.
I am thankful that I was able to send cookies to our brothers in the mission field (they were green for St. Patrick's Day!).
I am thankful that I have had lots of "me time" this past week.
I am thankful that Jed and I got to go with Nathan to Grandpa's house last night.
I am thankful that I live in the happiest state of the US! (Read the article - one reason we will not be leaving in West Virginia.)
I am thankful that we were able to go to the temple this week.
I am thankful that we were able to go out to dinner with Meals and Trent.
I am thankful that I was able to work out every day so far this week!
I am thankful that I get letters from Tom every week.
I am thankful that I know the Lord has a plan for me and that everything will work out the way it's supposed to.

Wednesday Weigh-In

I realize that I haven't really posted any pictures for a while and that my posts haven't been so frequent lately, so I'm going to try to work on the posts...and I'll have a Friday Foto Fix this week. :) Be happy.

Monday Memoirs - A Day Late
Friday - We went to see our friend Megan play the oboe in a local community orchestra. She played really well and even had a solo! Adam and Amanda met us at the concert and it was a really fun date night. Afterward, we all went out with Megan's grandparents to the Purple Turtle for milkshakes. (Jed and I are not big fans of this place, but the company was fun.) Megan's grandparents are so cute and really funny!
Jed and I went over to the Nielsen's house for game night. They always teach us fun new games!
Saturday - We went to the distribution center and spent $80 on stuff for Jed. Yeah, $80. And then we went to the temple for a bit.
It was pretty snowy in the morning, but then I guess Jed realized that the snow had melted in the afternoon and he met up with his friends for frizz (aka frisbee). I am not a frizz player, so I sat in the car and read my new book, The Surrendered Wife, that was recommended to me by Monique. It's a really good book so far!
Once our husbands were finally finished playing, we all (McDaniels, Nathan, and us) went to dinner at Nicoitalia - yummy! Then Heidi joined us and we all went bowling!! I won the second game, thank you very much! ;)
Oh, and I got hit on at the bowling alley. (I had greasy, slicked-back hair and was wearing a hoodie and jeans - no make-up.) I would have been flattered, but I don't think that guy could see... ;)
Sunday - It was my turn to teach the lesson in nursery. It went really well. Nursery is hit-or-miss as far as boredom. Sometimes I'm super bored and the two hours drag on and on, and other times it goes really quickly.
We had Jed's brother, Nathan, over for dinner - I made chicken and rice casserole. It was SO good, thanks to my friend, Corinne's sauce recipe.
And then I made Amish Friendship Bread because a friend at work had given me a bag of dough/batter. I had never heard of it before, but the bread was really good and I'm excited to make it again in a few days! We took some dough/batter around to some friends, along with the finished product. I hope they liked it and will continue passing it along. :) (If you live in the area and would like me to bring you some dough/batter and bread the next time I make it, please leave me a comment and I'll share the love with you!)
Monday - I slept in until 10. :) I made lunch for Jed for when he came home between work and school, I didn't clean the house, I made green chocolate chip cookies to send to our brothers who are on missions (for St. Patrick's Day), Jed and I worked out, I didn't clean the house, we went grocery shopping and grabbed dinner at Sensuous Sandwich (yum) in the snow, I didn't clean the house, and I worked out on the Wii Fit to burn off some more of my dinner. ;)
Then, I'm in the bedroom and there's a knock at the door. Jed answers it and I hear singing. Like carollers. I come out (unfortunately for the company still in my nasty work-out clothes) to find Meals and Trent at my front door with cookies for us. They're so sweet. Did I mention before that I didn't clean the house at all today, and that it looked like a tornado victim lived here? (Still does by the way) Kind of embarrassing... But the cookies they made were delish - I only got a few before the plate was empty! And we're going out to dinner with them tonight to one of their favorite places (that Jed and I have never been to) - Sweet Tomatoes! It looks pretty good and I'm excited!
Today - I slept in until 10 again. :) I made lunch for Jed again, I didn't clean the house (again), I dropped Jed's car off at the shop and took him to work, and I looked for jobs and realized that there is hardly anything out there. Amanda IMed me and let me know that they are looking to hire someone at her office and it's a position that's right up my alley. She was just told about it today, so nobody has been interviewed yet. She's going to keep me posted - I really hope it works out!! :D

25. Quarter. 5^2. Whatever.
I'm not the kind of person to do things at the peak of their popularity (unless I really, really like it). I usually wait until it's not so popular anymore and then I explore it to see if I even want to participate. (Case in point: Twilight. I picked up the first book after the movie came out. And I hated it - it was awful. But that's a whole other post...)
So, that being said, here's my list of 25 random things about myself:
1. If I'm eating a food that consists of a bunch of little pieces (like popcorn or M&Ms), I always pick up a few with one hand and then put them in the palm of my other hand before eating them.
2. A few times when I was babysitting my little brother, in order to keep him in bed, I told him that if he got out of bed I would call the police and they would take him away for being a bad boy. Looking back, that was really, really cruel (and probably traumatizing...). Sorry, Tom.
3. I burn at the beginning of the summer and then it turns in to a great tan and I don't burn again.
4. My favorite stuffed animal when I was little was a white bunny. Her name was Queeny because my mom brought her back from England. She disappeared when I was about six and I just assumed she had been thrown away. This year for my birthday, one of my presents was Queeny - my mom had found her in some old boxes after the flood!
5. I don't have a gall bladder.
6. I've been on two cruises. Both Carnival, both hit Cozumel.
7. I got a 32 on my ACT - first time!
8. I "got married" on two different occasions when I was five - Andrew Sousa and Josh Erikson. When "the priest" (my sister, Emily) said "You may now kiss the bride", I dipped both of them and kissed them. I was boy-crazy from the start.
9. I never learned that song about the States when I was in elementary school. Somehow everyone else knew/knows it but me. ("Alabama, Alaska, Arizona...")
10. I have been a BYU student for 5.5 semesters and I have never seen a BYU devotional.
11. I don't do seafood. Period.
12. I've been in the audience for a Last Comic Standing show and I was in the audience for the third Price is Right episode that Drew Carey hosted. I got my homemade T-shirt signed by Drew because I ran up to the stage during a commercial break!! :D
13. I taught myself how to read during the summer before Kindergarten.
14. I've never seen a Star Wars movie.
15. I bite string cheese, I don't peel it like most people.
16. I loved dolphins when I was a kid and for the longest time wanted to be a Marine Biologist. That is until I realized that they didn't just hang out with dolphins all day...
17. My fingers are double-jointed. It works in my favor around Halloween. :)
18. My favorite book is A Tale of Two Cities.
19. In elementary school (3rd grade?) I got sent to the principal's office for flooding the boys' bathroom with two of my guy friends. I don't know if my mom ever found out because they didn't make me call her because I felt so bad about (I was bawling - I always cry when I get in big trouble with authority figures). I don't know if I ever let Mom in on that little secret of mine...did I?
20. I have really high arches. And I hate feet, my own included.
21. Poor grammar and poor spelling are my biggest pet peeves! I lose a little bit of respect for people who repeatedly use poor English. (PS~ If I ever do this in my blog, please leave me a comment so I can correct it. I was more than likely typing faster than my brain could keep up. Or something.)
22. I have to sleep with the bedroom door closed.
23. I don't do other peoples' dishes. Period.
24. I've gotten air in a 4700-pound 1993 Chevy Suburban. Good times. :) (sorry Mom...)
25. Every family Christmas letter when I was younger always had a special section just for me, called "Ali Haps". It was about all of the crazy things I had done throughout the year. Some of those things may or may not have included 1. telling my teacher that one of our family rules was that we didn't drink out of the toilet (we didn't even have a dog then), or 2. getting my finger stuck a few times in this hole on the oven door that acted like a Chinese finger trap and having to call the paramedics to come get me loose, or 3. trying to walk home "like a blind person" from the mailbox down the street and walking face-first into a parked car, or 4. sneaking into my mom's bathroom and burning my hair "for a hair cut". The list goes on and on...

Thankful Thursday?
I'm thankful that I got to sleep in this morning.
I'm thankful that I didn't have to go to work today.
I'm thankful that I was home when Jed came home for lunch.
I'm thankful that we don't have cable, or else I might just sit in front of the TV all day and not do anything productive.
I'm thankful that I had time during the day to clean the house.
I'm thankful that I was able to talk to my dad about everything today.
I'm thankful that I got to go to the gym during the day when there weren't very many people there.
I'm thankful that I worked out for 45 minutes.
I'm thankful that Mr. "Put-on-too-much-hair-product-before-going-to-the-gym" only stayed on the treadmill next to me for 20 minutes.
I'm thankful that I was able to go grocery shopping during the day.
I'm thankful that I got to stay in my gym clothes all day while I ran errands.
Are you seeing a pattern here??
I got laid off yesterday. However...
I'm thankful that I get four weeks of pay while I'm looking for another job.
I'm thankful that I have insurance for those four weeks - time to get the dentist visit in...
I'm thankful that I was given three leads on other jobs that they knew about.
Yesterday my internet at work randomly stopped working around noon. I rebooted my computer, hoping it might help somehow, and I was locked out of my computer. I should have read between the lines. They were going to do it the day before yesterday, but I left before they got the opportunity. :\
I got called in to a conference room yesterday, about 30 minutes before I was supposed to leave, and was laid off. I tried to email myself all of the files on my work computer and then I sent out one final goodbye email to my coworkers, gathered up all of my things, and left. I didn't call Jed right away - I didn't want to tell him over the phone. I walked in with my box and Jed thought we had gotten a package. And then I started sobbing. He held me for a long time, telling me it would be ok, and then he jumped on the computer and started looking for jobs for me. :) At least now I have some free time during the day to get things done. For now. I need to find another job. I hate job-hunting. :(

Wednesday Weigh-In
Scary Scary
Yesterday was the second possible beginning of the end for me. Remember this post about the first person to get laid off in my office? Well now the count is up to two. Yesterday one of my girlfriends at work got a visit from one of the corporate bigwigs. Apparently it wasn't to congratulate her on a job well done and give her a fat raise. She gets to work through the end of the week and then she's done. I'm not only going to miss this girl, but I'm getting more and more nervous about my job security.
The first guy to get fired had only been with us for a few months (he was the newest to the office). This girl who got pink-slipped yesterday is the second newest employee (since this summer). Guess who comes in third place? Me! I've been here for a little over a year, but I'm the third newest. I really hope there isn't a pattern forming... :\
And let's be honest - I don't really do all that much. I mean, I'm at work right now and I'm blogging. I pretty much open and distribute incoming mail, answer and direct phone calls (about 10-20/day as opposed to about 50-75/day before), and process and log outgoing mail. I used to do a lot more, when we were busy. Since I work for a construction company, work has slowed down drastically since this past summer. Hopefully things will pick up a little now that spring is coming up. We'll see.
Should I start looking around to see what other jobs are out there just in case? Or should I just ride it out and hope things pick up soon?

I pretty much open and distribute incoming mail, answer and direct phone calls (about 10-20/day as opposed to about 50-75/day before), and process and log outgoing mail. I used to do a lot more, when we were busy. Since I work for a construction company, work has slowed down drastically since this past summer. Hopefully things will pick up a little now that spring is coming up. We'll see.
Should I start looking around to see what other jobs are out there just in case? Or should I just ride it out and hope things pick up soon?

Monday Memoirs
Friday- On Friday night, we had our home teacher and his wife and the Nielsens over for dinner and Wii games. It was really fun to just hang out at home and have some people over. We don't do that enough because our house is so small. I wish we did it more often.
Oh - before our little get-together, Justin came by the house to show us his freakin sweet new motorcycle! It's a 2007 Honda 919 - his dream bike!! It's really, really nice. I have a fear of motorcycles, so I doubt I'll ever ride it, but we'll see. ;)
Saturday- I got woken up to Jed telling me goodbye because he was going to play frizz (frisbee) at the park with his friends. Well I wanted to go so I could talk to the wives, so I got up real quick and got ready and we left. We were only there for three hours (surprise, surprise) and I got burned on my face and arm - yep, arm. I only got burned on one side of my body because the sun was on my right the whole time. I look like Two-Face. But that's better than being burned all over. (We found out some possibly great news about some friends of ours. I'll let you know if it turns out to be the good kind of news.)
We went home and bummed around a little bit before we decided to go shopping. We got a bunch of stuff at Target and Bed, Bath and Beyond for FREE! I love wedding gift cards!
Then Justin came over while his wife and sister went shopping. I got to crochet and the boys got to play video games - win/win.
When the girls were done shopping, we met up with them for some ice cream and then we went and soaked in the hot tub at Gold's. A great end to a fun day.
Sunday- I stayed at home, in bed, while Jed was at church. We had the lesson in nursery this week and he had to do it all by himself. What a trooper! I guess I'll have to do it all by myself next week... Joy.
We went up to my aunt's house for my cousin's 12th birthday party. It was good to see the family. I don't think we've seen most of them since Thanksgiving. All is well. For those of you in the fam, Mary and Steve are choosing not to know what their baby will be. Grams went to the ultrasound, but she couldn't tell what it was.
Today- Work, work, work. I was late today (like 25 minutes late) and my boss was having a meeting in a first floor room that has windows facing the parking lot where I park. I pulled right up to the window. Nice.
About 3 hours ago, I started feeling a fever coming on. Then the body aches started. My mom told me to take some Ibuprofen, so I did. I'm feeling a little bit better, but this is my late day and I'm not happy about having to stay here sick. I may or may not come in tomorrow. We'll see what happens. :(
