Monday Memoirs

Friday:
Jed had off work, so we just kind of vegged most of the day. We did a little bit of shopping (I scored some great deals at Old Navy), but for the most part we were home relaxing and enjoying each other's company.
It was our friend Mandy's birthday, so we went out to dinner with her and her family. It was good to catch up with them and just have a good time with each other.

Saturday:
We bought our Christmas tree! We are lucky enough to have sweet friends (who happen to have a truck) who offered to help us haul it home from the store. I'm so thankful for them taking time out of their busy Saturday to help us!
Then, that night, we went to the temple with some people from our congregation. It's such an uplifting experience when we have the opportunity to go and worship in the temple.

Sunday:
After church, I had an interview to work as a substitute at a daycare. I got the job. :)
In the evening, we went to my sister's house to have a family Thanksgiving celebration. As always, it was good to see them and hang out with family.

Monday Memoirs

FRIDAY:
We got to have dinner with a big group of friends at my favorite Mexican restaurant. It was so fun to catch up with everyone and just have a really great night.

SATURDAY: (most of my pictures are blurry for some reason)
We drove up to Grapevine and hopped on the Grapevine Vintage Railroad train.

An hour and a half later, we were arriving at the stockyards in Fort Worth. We did quite a bit of shopping and found some really neat things.

We got to sit in on a cattle auction for a little but and that was pretty interesting.

We got to watch the "running of the bulls" and I got to ride a mechanical bull! It was my first time and it was SO much fun! I stayed on the whole time! Woo!

Then, we jumped back on the train and got upgraded to first-class on the way back up to Grapevine. We totally lucked out because the kids sitting across from us on the first leg were kind of annoying.

I dropped Jed off at home and I went babysitting for the night.

SUNDAY:
After church, I took a long nap. That was pretty much all I did the whole day...

Utah Trip

I recently went to Utah for a little immediate-family reunion. It was so fun! But of course I didn't get very many pictures (ie. I got two when we first got in the car to start the road trip up there and one in the car driving around town) and blogs aren't as interesting without pictures, so I'll just quickly share some highlights.

*Milking a cow - it was awesome! And nothing like I thought it would be.
*Utah Olympic Park - such a fun day riding the Alpine Slide and zipline.
*Temple session with all of my endowed siblings - first time we've all been together in the temple since my wedding three years ago.
*Camping in the mountains - campfire, s'mores, and lots of fun!
*Cousin David's Homecoming - he's an outstanding guy.
*Seeing old friends
*Game night with Grandma
*Couple's Massage with my sister - haha!
*Of course, all of the yummy food that you can only get in Utah!

It was hard to get back into the real world. I'm already ready for another vacation. ;)

Monday Memoirs - Late Style

Thursday (Thanksgiving) - We did a marathon Thanksgiving and went to three different places. First we went to my dad's side's Thanksgiving. They had a Connect Four Championship (kinda random) and... Jed won first place!! We got a one-night's stay at the Radisson! I'm so excited to use that!
Next on the list was Grams' house. She fed us butternut squash soup and brownies until our eyes popped out. It was good to see her and Walter. I'm glad we got to visit them.
Then we went to Jed's aunt's house. We talked for a few hours and it was really fun to see that side of the family - it had been a while.

Friday - Black Friday. I had a booth at a boutique in downtown Provo. I sold cookie mixes for my dad's famous oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. I had a great time - I was sitting next to some great people who I am so glad I met. Sales weren't super high because the traffic was kind of slow - I think people went home to nap from their early morning ventures or else they were at the movies or something. We're doing another show in the spring. I think that one will go really well.
That night, I got this strange second wind and dragged Jed to the gym with me at 10pm. First time in months. It felt good to get on the treadmill again.

Saturday - After work, I met up with Jed and the Pages for dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was fun to go out with them and their cute kids. We also saw the Burkes while we were there - small world.
We went back to the Pages' house after dinner and had a game night! So fun! I think we left around 2am. :)

Sunday - I was sick, sick, sick. I stayed home from church and Jed had to do nursery all by himself. :\
I got myself a carton of OJ and some pills and went up to campus with Jed to study.
...and then I was too sick to go to work on Monday. The End.

I am thankful that we have family close and we got to see both sides of my extended family on Sunday.
I am thankful that I was able to go to the open house for the new expansion that my Uncle Brad was in charge of for the University Hospital at the U of U today.
I am thankful that I was driving Jed's car when the cop was following me today (my registration is expired as of right now).

Monday Memoirs

On Saturday, we went and stuffed ourselves at Tucanos with Amanda and Adam. That place is SO good. And apparently it's like half-off for their lunch buffet. Good to know. :)
After lunch, we all went back to our house and played Wii all afternoon! It was fun to have other people to play with besides just ourselves. Well stretching your stomach and playing the Wii all day make you tired, so Jed and I took a nap before we went grocery shopping at this new, cheap grocery store right down the street from us. It's called Buy Low Market. We like the fact that we don't have to drive super far for cheap groceries anymore. Woo!

Did I mention that Saturday was our six month anniversary? Well, it was. To celebrate, Jed took me out to this adorable little Italian place I've been wanting to go to called Gloria's Little Italy. It was a little pricey (about $13 per person) but the portions were large enough for two meals' worth. And the food was phenomenal! Both dinners we got were incredible. They even had live performances - a harpist and an Italian a capella singer. And then we got a scoop of cookies & cream gelato. Perfection. :D

After church on Sunday, we made 'breakfast dinner' together and soaked up the time we had with each other. I also grated a block of cheese we got at Costco - 26+ cups of cheese for $10! And then I made 7-layer dip for the Super Bowl.

The Super Bowl was intense and really fun to watch! I'm glad the Steelers won because that's who I chose to root for this year. :) The commercials were so lame and not even worth watching. None of them stood out to me. Very disappointing.

And that's what we did this weekend. Riveting, isn't it? ;)

Thankful Thursday

This really is a THANKFUL Thursday. I have nothing to complain about!
Yesterday was my 23rd birthday. Aside from having to go to school and class, and not having all of my family here, it was one of the
best birthdays I've ever had!

While I was in class (where we just watched a movie the whole time), Jed took my car to get washed and baked a cake (chocolate with sprinkle frosting...yum!). He also shaved and put on the yummy cologne I got him for Christmas. :D After class, I got to go to dinner at Macaroni Grill with a bunch of my good friends. Ally Kirts, an old roommate who I love, and Sabrina McCain, a friend from home who I hadn't seen in years, were even able to make it! We had a fabulous dinner and I got a birthday cake from our waiter, who sang a great solo of Happy Birthday in Italian! Most of us went back to our apartment for cake and ice cream. And Jed's brother got to join us for that, which was nice.

Jed did an amazing job in the birthday department this year! I got jewelry, Bath & Body Works stuff that smells yummy, a dock for my camera so I can upload pictures at work, and a few things that will encourage me to work-out and get back into shape (but I won't embellish on those because I don't want to make everyone jealous - just know that my husband is fabulous and insanely thoughtful).
I had an incredible birthday, filled with lots of love and good times. Thank you so much to all of those who wished me happy birthday and joined in on our fun birthday festivities. I have the best friends money can't buy!! ;)
