I have not been posting like I used, or would like, to. No surprise there. I'm gone from my house for 10.5 hours 5x a week. I can't blog at work and I crash when I get home.
I am looking for a new job. Not too intensely, since I do have an interview within the company to work at a closer location. That's in the beginning of December. I would love to stay within the company - I know it and I could cut down my commute without messy paperwork and saying goodbye to coworkers. (Does that even make sense?) But if that doesn't work out, I will be on the hunt like mad.
I just got back from walking/jogging around the temple with Jed. That is an intense hill. Especially when you haven't done anything resembling working out in months. Whoo! But hey, I got out there and I did it. One day down, a million to go. I say a million because I've gained so much weight since I started working again (did I mention that I sit on my butt all day, eat fast food and snacks at work, don't have the energy to cook dinner when I get back from my 10.5-hour day, and haven't exercised in months?). I should go on the Biggest Loser. I weigh as much as many of the girls' starting weights. Vomit.
I've been battling depression recently. With the cold/snow coming (I loathe snow and anything associated with it), my long commute, my tedious job, my lack of exercising, my ample weight gain, my husband getting to go out and do fun stuff without me while I'm stuck at work to pay the bills, my family not being around and not even being able to see them over the holidays, what is keeping me from self-destructing?? Not much. But I am trying to look on the bright side of things and be grateful for what I do have. I know that I just need to count my blessings and I will find a plethora.
One WAY EXCITING thing that I'm doing is a boutique on Black Friday. A great friend of mine is putting on this boutique for local business owners. Did you know that I'm a local business owner? Neither did I. I'm going to be selling cookie mixes for my dad's famous (secret) cookies. If you would like to come see me next Friday, I will be at the Provo Posh & Chic Boutique at the downtown Provo Marriott from 8-5. I'd love to see you!
I think that's pretty much it for my ramblings today. I hope everyone's having a great week and thinking about all that they're thankful for. I know I'm trying to do that.

Thankful Thursday
I am thankful that I have a job interview tomorrow with a company in Orem. :)
I am thankful for Jed.
I am thankful that I have a loving family and good relationships with them.
I am thankful that my dad will be coming in to town next week and I get to go to dinner with him.
I am thankful that it hasn't really started snowing yet (knock on wood).
I am thankful for the success that I've been having at my current job.
I am thankful for the Gospel.
I am thankful for the Atonement.
I am thankful that I am able-bodied.
I am thankful that I have the chance to get an education.
I am thankful for my car.
I am thankful for the opportunity I have to be a part of The Provo Posh & Chic Boutique on Black Friday - more on that to come. ;)

Monday Memoirs
Friday - We went over to the Pages' house for dessert and games. We had a BLAST! We played Scattergories, Rummikub, and Gang of Four and Pop5 (a Cranium game) for the first time. **Christmas ideas: Gang of Four for Jed and Pop5 for me**
The Pages are so fun and I'm really glad that we've gotten to know them - they're becoming some of our best friends.
Saturday - I went to work and Jed came with me and studied all day. We got to go to Pie for lunch! SO good!
We stopped by Jed's aunt Annie's house to pick up our Russian Tortoise. His name was Turk and we renamed him Archie. He is SO fun! We're so glad that we got to take him off their hands. We've been wanting a turtle for a long time and now we have an awesome one! Thanks Annie and family!!
Jed tried to hike the Y with his brothers and some friends while the lights were still on for Homecoming, but when he got about three-fourths of the way up, the lights turned off. Bummer.
Sunday - We had our home teacher over and I went visiting teaching. We watched Hook and then studied. Nothing too exciting.

The Boys
Laurel and my nephews were in town a few weeks ago. I watched the boys all day Wed & Thurs; they slept at our house Mon, Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun. It was a long, but super fun week!
We went to the park, the pumpkin patch and corn maze, we fed the ducks, we colored, we watched Curious George, and we made "monster cookies". We had a great time and I'm so glad that I was able to spend time with the boys.
Jed and I also learned some things, both individually, and as a couple:
If you have a 9 month-old on the edge of the bed, don't turn your back for a second. (Jed)
A crib barely fits in our room, between the bed and the closet - we can't have a baby if we still live here.
Hot dogs can be a breakfast food.
I am much more patient than either of us thought. At least when it comes to kids.
Going anywhere with two kids takes 4x as long.
High chairs are not necessarily a necessity, but definitely help.
Baths should not be taken during the day (per Eli).
Anything on the floor, or within 2 feet, is fair game.
Pants are optional at the playground if Ali's back is turned.
Sometimes you have to study in the bathroom (if there's a kid sleeping in the bedroom and another in the living room/kitchen area).

Random Thoughts
(I apologize if any are off-color)
-I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option.
-More often than not, when someone is telling me a story all I can think about is that I can't wait for them to finish so that I can tell my own story that's not only better, but also more directly involves me.
-Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.
-I don't understand the purpose of the line, "I don't need to drink to have fun." Great, no one does. But why start a fire with flint and sticks when they've invented the lighter?
-Have you ever been walking down the street and realized that you're going in the complete opposite direction of where you are supposed to be going? But instead of just turning a 180 and walking back in the direction from which you came, you have to first do something like check your watch or phone or make a grand arm gesture and mutter to yourself to ensure that no one in the surrounding area thinks you're crazy by randomly switching directions on the sidewalk.
-That's enough, Nickelback.
-I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger.
-Is it just me, or are 80% of the people in the "people you may know" feature on Facebook people that I do know, but I deliberately choose not to be friends with?
-Do you remember when you were a kid, playing Nintendo and it wouldn't work? You take the cartridge out, blow in it and that would magically fix the problem. Every kid in America did that, but how did we all know how to fix the problem? There was no internet or message boards or FAQ's. We just figured it out. Today's kids are soft.
-There is a great need for sarcasm font.
-Sometimes, I'll watch a movie that I watched when I was younger and suddenly realize I had no idea what was going on when I first saw it.
-I think everyone has a movie that they love so much, it actually becomes stressful to watch it with other people. I'll end up wasting 90 minutes shiftily glancing around to confirm that everyone's laughing at the right parts, then making sure I laugh just a little bit harder (and a millisecond earlier) to prove that I'm still the only one who really, really gets it.
-How the heck are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet?
-I would rather try to carry 10 plastic grocery bags in each hand than take 2 trips to bring my groceries in.
- I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die.
-The only time I look forward to a red light is when I’m trying to finish a text.
- A recent study has shown that playing beer pong contributes to the spread of mono and the flu. Yeah, if you suck at it.
- Was learning cursive really necessary?
- Lol has gone from meaning, "laugh out loud" to "I have nothing else to say".
- I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger.
- Answering the same letter three times or more in a row on a Scantron test is absolutely petrifying.
- My brother's Municipal League baseball team is named the Stepdads. Seeing as none of the guys on the team are actual stepdads, I inquired about the name. He explained, "Cuz we beat you, and you hate us." Classy, bro.
- Whenever someone says "I'm not book smart, but I'm street smart", all I hear is "I'm not real smart, but I'm imaginary smart".
- How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear what they said?
- I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars teams up to prevent some jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers!
- Every time I have to spell a word over the phone using 'as in' examples, I will undoubtedly draw a blank and sound like a complete idiot. Today I had to spell my boss's last name to an attorney and said "Yes that's G as in...(10 second lapse)..ummm...Goonies"
-What would happen if I hired two private investigators to follow each other?
- While driving yesterday I saw a banana peel in the road and instinctively swerved to avoid it...thanks Mario Kart.
- MapQuest really needs to start their directions on #5. Pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood..
- Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died.
- I find it hard to believe there are actually people who get in the shower first and THEN turn on the water.
-Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever.
- I would like to officially coin the phrase 'catching the swine flu' to be used as a way to make fun of a friend for hooking up with an overweight woman. Example: "Dave caught the swine flu last night."

-If Carmen San Diego and Waldo ever got together, their offspring would probably just be completely invisible.

-You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you've made up your mind that you just aren't doing anything productive for the rest of the day.

-I hate when I just miss a call by the last ring (Hello? Hello? Dangit!), but when I immediately call back, it rings nine times and goes to voicemail. What'd you do after I didn't answer? Drop the phone and run away?
- I hate leaving my house confident and looking good and then not seeing anyone of importance the entire day. What a waste..
-When I meet a new girl, I'm terrified of mentioning something she hasn't already told me but that I have learned from some light internet stalking.
-I like all of the music in my iTunes, except when it's on shuffle, then I like about one in every fifteen songs in my iTunes.
-Why is a school zone 20 mph? That seems like the optimal cruising speed for pedophiles...
-Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is.
-It should probably be called Unplanned Parenthood.
-I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call.
-Even if I knew your social security number, I wouldn't know what do to with it.
-Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket to turn off the alarm and end the panic button but I’d bet everyone can find and push the Snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time every time after being totally unconscious up until that moment.
-My 4-year old son asked me in the car the other day "Dad what would happen if you ran over a ninja?" How the heck do I respond to that?
-It really makes me mad when I want to read a story on CNN.com and the link takes me to a video instead of text.
-I wonder if cops ever get miffed at the fact that everyone they drive behind obeys the speed limit.
-I think the freezer deserves a light as well.

In other words, someone at the restaurant packed my order, took a second to think about it, and then estimated that there must be at least four people eating to require such a large amount of food. No, Thanks
Jed and I went to that timeshare presentation last night. Oh boy. First we met with our rep, then the whole group of us had to go into a conference room and listen to hyper 11-Red-Bulls-later boy for 45 minutes. Torture.
Then we went back with our rep and he talked to us for almost an hour and a half - I think he thought he had us. It sounded like a good deal, but we don't have the cash for that, and I feel like we usually find really good deals on hotels and stuff anyways.
So after 2.5 hours, we signed a paper saying we understand we waved our rights to certain benefits or whatever. And then we had to sit at this table and wait for 10 minutes for someone else to "ask us a few follow-up questions". The follow-up questions were them giving us one last "deal". We said no to that, too.
The prizes we got just for going in:
$25 AMEX credit card
$30 Maverick gas card
2 nights stay in Vegas
$100 gift card to Olive Garden

Monday Memoirs - A Day Late
Friday - I had the day off and got a ton of things done! It was great!
We went to our ward camp-out, but didn't sleep over because I had to work the next day. The food was good, and my cherry cake was gone in five minutes - that made me happy.
We sat next to some interesting people, the husband is actually Jed's HT companion. And on the other side were the parents of one of our girls in nursery. We really like them.
Saturday - I worked. Jed came to SLC with me. We went to lunch together and then got massages, too. I love that perk of my job. It was my first massage at the schoool, and Jed's first ever. I think he really liked it, which is good because he'll go back with me. :)
My friend Megan had texted me about this women's expo going on at UVU that day. We swung by her house on the way home and got her ticket so that I didn't have to pay. :) Thanks Megan!
The reason we wanted to go is because she had gotten a 2-night vacation to a resort in Park City for $50, and we wanted the deal too! ;) So we go to the expo, get that deal, and get another for a timeshare presentation. I'll let you know how that goes - we're going tonight.
Sunday - They split the nursery, again. It's really nice to only have about 4 kids each week, as opposed to 10-15 like it was in the beginning. We are able to work more closely with the kids and get to know them better.

We sat next to some interesting people, the husband is actually Jed's HT companion. And on the other side were the parents of one of our girls in nursery. We really like them.
Saturday - I worked. Jed came to SLC with me. We went to lunch together and then got massages, too. I love that perk of my job. It was my first massage at the schoool, and Jed's first ever. I think he really liked it, which is good because he'll go back with me. :)
My friend Megan had texted me about this women's expo going on at UVU that day. We swung by her house on the way home and got her ticket so that I didn't have to pay. :) Thanks Megan!
The reason we wanted to go is because she had gotten a 2-night vacation to a resort in Park City for $50, and we wanted the deal too! ;) So we go to the expo, get that deal, and get another for a timeshare presentation. I'll let you know how that goes - we're going tonight.
Sunday - They split the nursery, again. It's really nice to only have about 4 kids each week, as opposed to 10-15 like it was in the beginning. We are able to work more closely with the kids and get to know them better.

Thankful Thursday
I am thankful that Jed was able to come to SLC with me last Saturday when I worked.
I am thankful that Chris and Hanna came to see me at work on Saturday.
I am thankful that we split the nursery again on Sunday.
I am thankful that we were able to go camping with the Burkes on Sunday night, even though I worked on Monday.
I am thankful for good friends and family.
I am thankful for the Gospel.
I am thankful that I have a job.
I am thankful that we have health insurance.
I am thankful that I was able to go to Jed's capstone meeting last night.
I am thankful that I am able to go to school.
I am thankful that I was able to go to brunch with Jed this morning.

Thankful Thursday
I am thankful that we were able to go to California this weekend.
I am thankful that Jed was able to handle the car when the tire blew and we didn't flip or anything.
I am thankful that my parents were in town at the same time we were.
I am thankful that we were able to go to Wicked!
I am thankful for Laurel and Nathan and their generosity.
I am thankful that we got to see Nathan when he was in town this week.
I am thankful that my first week of school went well.
I am thankful that I was able to stay at Grams' house so that I didn't have to drive home after school.
I am thankful that I was able to go to brunch with Grams and Cheryl this morning.

Monday Memoirs - A Day Late
Friday - We headed out for Laurel's house right after work, around 6:30. At 8:30 we blew out a tire. It was totally shredded. For some reason the jack wasn't tall enough, so we called AAA. The AAA guy took almost two hours to show up, but he changed our tire and then suggested that we follow him to his shop in Beaver and get some cheap used tires rather than drive back to Provo to pick up my car, like we were planning on doing. He changed and rotated our tires and we were on the road by 11:00.
We had been "traveling" for 5 hours at this point and still had seven to go. It was a long night, energy drinks included. Jed was such a trooper - he drove the entire way, and even let me take two- one hour naps! We got off at Laurel's exit and realized that we didn't know her gate code. At 5am! Luckily someone pulled in right after us. What they were doing out until 5am is anyone's guess.
Saturday - We all went to brunch at this really good restaurant - my parents were in town over the weekend too! I taught West how to drink out a straw. :)
We all drove down to San Diego and everyone else hung out around town while Jed and I went to WICKED!! It was INCREDIBLE!! I am SO glad we went! I absolutely loved it and can't say enough good things about it.
After dinner at a really yummy Mexican restaurant called Ancho's, we went back to Laurel's house and played Five Crowns. Laurel and I kicked butt. It was a fun night and I'm glad that my parents were able to be there too. It was really nice to see them and get to hang out and play games with them. And of course it's always a good time with the Lakeys - that's why we like to visit them so much! :)
Sunday - My parents left super early to catch their flight, so we didn't really get to say goodbye. After a yummy breakfast of hoot-nannys that Chef Laurel made, we got back on the road again to come home. It was a whirlwind trip to say the least, but it was a blast!!
